give yourself room to grow

Sprout is a website that serves as a central hub of mental health resources for teens in NYC. Sprout consists of several categorized pages of resources, practices, and other relevant pieces of information, to aid in stress relief and non-medical management of mood.disorders. The site is designed to be soothing and minimalist as to not overstimulate visitors.

Sprout was created to help fill holes in current efforts to provide teenagers with the means to seek out help and the tools necessary for self-help. Many resources already exist, but they are rarely connected and never collected in one place.

With Sprout, we aim to provide teenagers with a single website that grants access to all of the resources, services, and practices available to them. When Sprout was made, it needed to be minimalistic in design, and it had to be hosted on a free platform to allow the content—not profit—to be our main concern. Sprout was made possible by Djangogirls, Pythonanywhere, W3 Schools, Stackoverflow, and Github. Sprout was written in HTML, CSS, Python, Django and Javascript.

Our Django database was finnicky. We had to delete and recreate it, along with migrations, several times.

"I really like the design of your website. It's a clean representation of an important topic." -Megan Kuo
