Adopt shelter animals!

We are raising awareness to forgotten shelter animals through our website and game. Our website provides multiple sources to adopt animals and donate to shelters. The game is a fun way of allowing the users to discover individual shelter animals that are available for adoption.

- Homeless animals outnumber homeless people 5:1.
- Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.
- Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized.

We are bringing awareness to the issue by providing multiple resources to help get people involved in making change.

This was our first time creating a game in JavaScript, so it was difficult to get started and understand how to properly set up all the different aspects. However, we researched the implementation of a game library and successfully added it to our game.

We also used the Petfinder API, and it was difficult to understand how to manipulate large amounts of data. We were able to access the individual pet information for the end of the game.

Lastly, we had to work on figuring out how to format our website using CSS and HTML so that we could incorporate many different aspects for the website (game, links, quiz, etc).

"I love the game. The information given about individual animals at the end is really cool. I can see that this will be very helpful to many people."

We are a group of high school students from the Bay Area. We are passionate about solving real world issues with code. Our project tackles the lack of adoption of shelter animals. We are hoping to bring awareness to the shelters and resources for people using our website and game.
