Created For Teens, By Teens

The purpose of this website is to create a community by helping people find interesting hobbies, and share their interests. We are a team of teens brought together through of our interest in coding. During our town’s Girls Who Code program, we worked together to create a website that we hoped would give others the same opportunity to find their (or maybe even a new) interest. Throughout the process of the creating the website, we used various activity sets such as the scratch platform, EarSketch, etc.

We wanted to create a friendly environment for teens that would encourage them to develop an interest in coding, reading, ans self-improvement. The users can also express their opinions regarding the website or the content/ suggest new ideas through our "Make a Suggestion" section.

We created a 'hub' with links to other projects created on various platforms that addressed various types of interests/hobbies. We hope users can utilize these features to establish new connections online.

While we were working on the project, we faced a few technical issues, such as the communication problem, being able not to add different projects into the wordpress platform, etc. We overcame the communication issues by creating Trello boards and using Skype in order to improve the project. In order to overcome the issue with incorporating the projects into the websites, we decided to add links directly onto the site.

"In my opinion, the project has a great potential!"

This project was made by Girls Who Code Club students at Monmouth County Library.
