The purpose of "Lend a Helping Hand" is to allow teenagers in Connecticut to have an easy and accessible way to locate organizations in which they can volunteer and lend a helping hand to their community. This website acts as a search engine where the user can select their town and preferred volunteer service to find the perfect match for them. We all have positive volunteering experiences, and we hope to share that with the world.

We want to encourage teenagers to volunteer and help their community. Not many teenagers want to volunteer, and we’re hoping we can show them a concise and helpful manner to aid their search. We, the creators, only have positive volunteering experiences, so we wish to spread the love.

We made a website that acts as a search engine to help teens find a volunteer organization. There is an informative page, and also a page which entices users to actually sign up and volunteer. The website has cool interactive features to catch the user’s attention, such as an API map.

Our team encountered a slight technical difficulty with the Menu bar. We wanted to center it, but also modify the size and padding of the text and tabs. We used Google search and found CSS communities that aided us in our struggle.

"I think it's a great, informative project!"
