Be-leaf in your power to change the world

Hi, we are glo-pal. We created this project to help users become more environmentally active. On our website, users can create an account to track and earn points for completing eco-friendly tasks. We hope our network helps bring awareness to simple ways that people can reduce their carbon footprint and waste.

In our lifetime, rising global temperatures will potentially lead to:
- rising sea levels
- deadly heat waves
- global food shortages
- reduced air quality from pollution
- increased warfare in developing nations

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing our generation, but many people have no idea what they can do to help.

- Our website is designed to encourage people to live a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
- Our website, glo-pal, suggests methods users can reduce their impact on global warming.
- Users can select the tasks they have completed to earn points in the different categories.

-Creating a Django website from the ground up
-Django has a ton of built-in features, which is great however, understanding how all these files come together is pretty complicated!
- Using Django to create a login and sign up for users
- Getting the CSS formatting just right always takes experimentation

"Glo-pal helps create a platform for people who want to help the environment but don't know how"

Hey! I’m Nisha, a junior at Conant High School. I am interested in web design and back-end development. When I’m not programming, you can find me running, taking photos, reading, trying new foods and listening to music. I plan to pursue computer science in college.

I’m Annika, and I’m a senior at Conant High School. My favorite language is Python and my favorite animal is the cat. Besides coding, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, writing for my school newspaper, and playing soccer. Thank you to my teachers and family who have encouraged my interest in computer science. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my summer any other way.

Hey guys I’m Pawandeep and I’m a senior at Waukegan High School. During school, I’m involved in many extracurriculars like JROTC, tennis, National Honor Society, and a lot more. Outside of school, I love to read books, watch YouTubers, TV shows, hang out with friends and listen to music. Shoutout to Girls Who Code for this great opportunity.

Hey it’s Nadean, I am currently a junior at Universal school. I honestly joined Girls Who Code to try something new and meet new people, which I did. The best part about the program was interacting with everyone. Some activities I enjoy are engaging in outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, drawing, and reading. I appreciate everyone who encouraged me to get involved with Girls Who Code, it was truly a great experience.

This project was made by Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program students at Synchrony.
