For her. For us. For{ada}.

Created in July 2016, For{ada} was created by four female coders. Our group created a community-powered website and newsletter that brings awareness to all things tech related. We hope to provide encouragement to young girls across the world.

The most prominent issue we face is the lack of STEM exposure to young girls. As the technology industry has continued to expand, many studies have shown that the percentage of girls interested in pursuing STEM has been very small compared to that of boys. This is explained by what each gender is exposed to - girls are encouraged to pursue more “feminine” careers such as dancing or writing, while boys typically are encouraged to be scientists or athletes. What girls are not told is that many times STEM is incorporated into a wide variety of fields, from art to film.

We created a community-powered website and newsletter that brings awareness to all things tech related. We hope to provide encouragement to young girls across the world.

We got through everything because of resilience!

We are four female coders who created this project to close the gender gap in computer science!

This project was made by Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program students at Knight - MDC - Ada Lovelace.
